On July 7, 2021 my first book, Taking Yoga Off the Mat was released and available for purchase through Amazon, the Kindle network, and the Barnes & Noble Nook platform!
Featuring a selection of essays, Taking Yoga Off the Mat offers thoughtful messaging about how we take the lessons learned in a yoga studio and apply them within our daily lives. We can do hard things ON the mat. So, we can also so hard things when we roll it up and leave it. We can handle challenges ON the mat, so we can handle what we face OFF the mat as well.
The chapters–including one poem–in this transformative non-fiction book feature essays compiled to offer reflection and thought-provoking ideas to support the reader’s wellness, mental health, and growth during both normal day-to-day and challenging moments.
A standard yoga mat is 68 inches long, 24 inches wide and approximately 3/16 of an inch thick. It’s not very big, but a great deal happens in that space. Throughout a yoga practice, however, we are reminded that yoga is not about the poses or exercise. Our main goal is to stay present and focus on our breathing. Out of that messaging the class finds the strength and ability to move through poses and enhance flexibility.
The goal of my book is to offer my readers tangible suggestions about how we take what we learn mentally and physically ON the mat out the door and into the world. Some chapters tie directly to a yoga or exercise concept while others draw on personal, real-life experiences to offer a practical approach to applying these yoga philosophies, principles, and ideas in our relationships with others and connect with the community.
